This summer I got had the chance to second shoot with my new friend Mae from Bryan&Mae. Bryan and Mae are both fantastic photographers who have worked incredibly hard to build their photography business. It has always been exciting to be able to learn from them. The following photos are from a wedding I was able to photograph with Mae in Traverse City, Michigan. Lauren and Mike are very much in love and I feel very privileged to have been there for their wedding.
I can’t believe it! The first time I submitted a wedding to be published and it actually got accepted to two blogs! I chose to run it on Style Me Pretty this time and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you today.

Wow, I had been looking forward to this day for so long and it could not have gone more smoothly. My dear friends Sarah and Patrick were married at Dimnent Chapel on Hope College’s campus where we all attended together. Following the ceremony we walked through downtown Holland for their reception at the Holland Area Arts Council. There, the rest of the day was filled with family and friends and dancing. In fact, I think we danced more than at any other wedding I’ve been to (and thats somewhere around 25 now)! Another fun part of the photography experience was the Photobooth that I set up and Sarah designed the backdrop for. Check out those photos here.
For almost a year now I’ve been working for a photography studio called George Street Photo & Video. While it doesn’t have the same perks as doing weddings on my own (more personal, editing the photos and designing albums for example) this job has many other perks! I work as an Associate Photographer so I’m always with another experienced photographer and usually a videographer as well. This means I get to work with a different photographer from the area at almost every wedding. I always enjoy getting to chat with them during dinner and hear about their journey as a photographer. While we’re shooting I also get to pick up loads of photo techniques and posing tricks from them. The way George Street works is that I go into my account online and set my availability so they can only book me when I’m free. This has helped me fill in almost every empty weekend this summer. I’ve now shot 10 weddings with them and gained much more experience than I ever could have shooting on my own. Here are just a few shots that I’ve been able to take with them over the past year.
